Waikato Regional Airport Ltd (WRAL) bids a fond farewell to director, Margaret Devlin, who has been an integral part of the airport company’s journey for the past decade.
During her tenure, Margaret brought invaluable expertise, strategic insight, and robust governance to WRAL’s Board of Directors and as Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee.
Her pivotal role in the decision to dissolve the joint venture with Mcconnell Property in 2015 reshaped the trajectory of the airport company and enabled the formation of a forward-looking ten-year strategy centred on income diversification. Ironically, this diversification strategy was ultimately responsible for the airport’s successful navigation of the COVID pandemic with the property arm of the business providing crucial support for the company amidst the aeronautical crisis.
Margaret, alongside her husband Mike Cahill (a stalwart of the Run the Runway event which has been run for four years at Hamilton Airport) has made the decision to return to London. She has kindly agreed, however, to continue to serve on the board remotely until the recruitment process for new directors has been completed by our shareholders.
As Margaret embarks on her next adventure, we wish to express our deepest gratitude for her outstanding service and remarkable leadership, the impact of which will resonate for many years to come.
